Post Staff MILWAUKEE — "Valentine's Day Beatles Hop," a fundraising event of the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens, will feature a Beatles tribute band, food and drinks Feb. 14 at the Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive. The band Liverpool '64 plays early Beatles classics on authentic replica instru- ments and dresses in iconic Beatles cos- tumes. The event runs from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. "Beatles fans of all ages should attend," said Ellen Hayward, president and CEO for the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens. "Guests are encouraged to dress for the era and wear their dancing shoes." Authentic Beatles memorabilia will be for sale. Paul Costanzo, a local photogra- pher, purchased negatives of photos taken at the Beatles' 1964 Milwaukee Arena con- cert. Costanzo made prints from these neg- atives and will sell them along with other posters and memorabilia. A portion of the profits will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Elm Grove chocolatier Fazio's Chocolates will sell heart-shaped choco- lates, chocolate-covered strawberries and signature items. Door prizes will be given away through- out the evening. Prizes include a Beatles print, an assortment of gourmet choco- lates, memberships to the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens, passes to the Botanical Gardens, and more. Zilli Hospitality Group will offer a cash bar (adult beverages, as well as soda and coffee) and a variety of appetizers for cash purchase. Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens has supported the Botanical Gardens through programming, education and fundraising since 1984. Proceeds from this event will be used to help sustain the Botanical Gardens and support nature-driv- en education programs. Admission to "Valentine's Day Beatles Hop" is $25 per person or $40 per couple. Advance purchase is suggested. Tickets may be purchased online at boernerbotani- calgardens.org, by phone, by mail, or in person. A limited number of tickets may be available for purchase at the door. Dress appropriately; layer clothes so you can remove layers as needed. Cover your nose and mouth to warm the air you are breathing. Make sure your hands and head are covered. Push the snow if possible instead of lifting. If you must lift, take small amounts and lift with your knees, not your back. Take frequent breaks. Shovel with a friend to share the work.
