The project is being funded by a $4.2 million state grant that was awarded in 2010, and the first phase cost about $1.9 million. Brewer said the city was pleasantly surprised by the award, and began acquiring property shortly after. Trent Construction Inc. out of Gerber was awarded the contract for construction of the park.
