Soap Updates Melissa Archer stars in "Days of our Lives" By Lydia Peever TV Media Another full "Tank": After a whirlwind first season, "Thicker Than Water: The Tankards" has hardly settled. It is hard to believe the second round only just began — from a graduation to wild reve- lations between siblings to a hair show and birthdays — it already seems like so much has happened. Catch a new episode to see where the family heads next Sunday, Jan. 25, on Bravo. Known more simply as "Thicker Than Water," this freshman series details the lives of the Tankards, a black family typical of southern and religious households. Well, typical if your father is former pro- fessional basketball player and American gospel-jazz instrumen- talist Ben Tankard. Along with his wife Jewel and their children Brooklyn, Britney, Benji, Cyrene and Marcus, the fam- ily lives and grows together de- spite the ups and downs so many can relate to. No amount of per- sonal success can take the punch out of Ben's 50th birthday or Jew- el's so-called midlife crisis. In reality, it's a long road in a short time for a show that was originally set to cover a completely different family. The network had aired a pilot entitled "Thicker Than Water: The Marinos" in the sum- mer of 2011, with the same idea and different faces, set in New Jer- sey as opposed to Nashville where the show is centered now. "Thicker Than Water" is pro- duced by Sirens Media, a company that has brought many aspects of the family concept to the small screen, from the seedy series "Evil Kin" to "Real Housewives of New Jersey" and "Manzo'd With Chil- dren" to the far grittier show "Deadly Affairs." The Tankard clan has had a get- together with fans with a live question-and-answer series on the show's Facebook page. If you haven't got the details straight from the Tankard's keyboards, tune in Sundays, with the next episode airing Jan. 25 on Bravo. Fat, fit and fab: Say what you will about the "F" word, this "Fat Girl Dancing" has moves! So many moves, in fact, she has wiggled her way into a series all her own with "My Big Fat Fabulous Life" airing a new episode Tuesday, Jan. 27, on TLC. This is one girl we could all learn from. Whitney Thore suffered from eating disorders and a distorted body image when she was a young and slim dancer, and being diag- nosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syn- drome once she hit college brought about a gain of 200 pounds. Since the condition makes it very hard to lose weight, she is 380 pounds now — 380 happy, educated and active pounds. Thore is a force to be reckoned with. The front page of her website nobodyshame.com says: "No mat- ter what you're struggling with, embrace what you have to offer, love yourself right this minute and start affecting positive change for yourself and others." Little women, big excite- ment: If you are looking for a modern retelling of the Louisa May Alcott classic novel, you best keep looking. This docuseries cov- ers women where size is the only little thing about them. Big atti- tudes, big dreams, big voices and big lives — this is what "Little Women: LA" has in store for a new episode airing Wednesday, Jan. 28, on Lifetime. This group of gals all happen to have dwarfism and are acquainted through show biz in one way or an- other. They sing, act, impersonate and design on the strip and face many other common obstacles — not only living and working and performing in tinsel town — hav- ing to face challenges as little peo- ple in a world that doesn't always accommodate. All of the ladies are returning for season 2, and that is good news for fans who've grown attached to them. Terra Jolé headlines the Las Ve- gas show "Little Legends" and serves as one of the executive pro- ducers. Tonya Banks is an actress and stand-in, as well as a stunt- woman. Christy McGinity has per- formed as stand-in for child actors, and currently works as a financial adviser. Traci Harrison had roles as a stand-in and is now pursuing a bachelor's degree in liberal studies with a concentration in theater arts. Briana Manson has a career singing, dancing and performing as herself and impersonating ce- lebrities, such as Marilyn Monroe. Elena Gant, the youngest of the bunch, is a full-time actress who is also pursuing a career in graphic design. For a big dose of drama and style in tiny, shiny packages, check out Lifetime on Wednesday, Jan. 28, for the newest episode of "Lit- tle Women: LA."
