Article Provided By: Matt Bright Boy Scout Troop 129 in Spindale, North Carolina has been training boys to become leaders of our community since 1937. That's 77 years of scouting! Developing skills such as wilderness survival, fi rst aid, knot tying, map and compass reading, cooking in the outdoors, axe and knife use, swimming, fi shing and canoeing and last but certainly not least, helping little old ladies cross the street. The most important skill of all is leadership! Our goal is to mold tomorrow's leaders to be men of integrity and high moral aptitude. The Boy Scouts of America is our nation's oldest and largest youth training organization. Many famous men in American history have been part of this program as a youth like Bill Gates(Microsoft), President Gerald Ford, Steven Spielberg, Walter Cronkite, am Walton(founder of Wal-Mart), Neil Armstrong(NASA fi rst man on moon). Boy Scout Troop 129 is proud to be supported by Spencer Baptist Church in Spindale. The troop is camping about every other month year around from high adventure back packing, to canoeing, fi shing, rifl e and shotgun shooting. There is something for all boy's interests. Troop 129 also instills a reverence to God by offering the God and Country program so a boy can develop a personal relationship with God. Over all it's a character factory, which molds tomorrow's leaders and we would love to have your son be a part of traditional family values that our scouting program offers. America needs us and you. Ages of boy's are from 11 to 17. Boy Scout Troop 129 of Spindale with their new scout activity bus given in memory of James I. Bright, former Postmaster of Spindale and Rutherfordton. The gift was made by his wife Ruby Bright, sons Ivey and Matt along with their spouses Amy and Dee Dee. There is a memorial plaque on the bus which reads "James I. Bright, A Friend to the Scouts. Troop 129 is sponsored by Spencer Baptist Church. Classifi ed deadline Classifi ed deadline is Tuesdays @ 3:00 is Tuesdays @ 3:00 828-248-1496 828-248-1496 Ads Work! Ads Work!
