The Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Patricia Sparti, and the Jazz band, led by Seth Carson, will share the joy of the holiday season with a variety of musical selections that will bring back memories and perhaps create new ones. The program contains something for everyone: selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite; standard favorites, including "White Christmas," "Winter Wonderland," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," and "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"; children's favorites such as "Rudolph" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas"; and, of course, a multitude of carols. One of the highlights of the program will be a selection called "Christmas Sing-Along." School choirs, church choirs, and individuals are invited to participate. Just show up and be prepared to join the orchestra in singing "Joy to the World," "O Come All Ye Faithful," "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," and "Silent Night." While the Symphony of Rutherford County has traditionally offered its concerts free of charge, we are requesting a $5.00 donation from adults for this one to help with the cost of all the new music we have purchased for the program. Donations will be accepted at the door. (No tickets will be required.) Attendees 18 and under will be admitted free. The Symphony of Rutherford County is a non-profi t organization currently in its 27th year of fulfi lling its mission of serving the community through music and music education. It is funded primarily through contributions from individual donors. It is also funded in part through a Grassroots grant from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
