TAMMY LYNN NEWMAN T a m m y L y n n N e w m a n , age 44, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2014. A celebration of love; Tammy Lynn Newman, Mother to Matthew Leatherwood, daughter Mia Leatherwood, Jessica Leatherwood, son Clint Gibson and Daughter Kaelee Leatherwood- Newman. A wonder- ful daughter and sister, she had a complex and demanding life that she met like no other I have ever known. I met her just in January 2013 and soon married her on July 5, 2013 at 5:55. To explain such a short courtship for a 45 year old man never married and no children, you need only to look to Tammy and the uncondi- tional love she held in her heart for not just myself, but all others as well. I transplanted here to west- ern NC from Cape Cod Massachusetts to care for my father who soon was widowed himself just two short years after moving here in 2005. Tammy and I met and can tell you as witness that it was only a very very short time my heart was absolutely hers. As a career bachelor I must say I was impressed and extremely happy that we made the deci- sions we made. Both of us spent every second we could leaving love notes and constantly reassuring each other how much we appreciated us together and how much we loved each other. She was so happy that July evening we married. I had spent a few hours mowing an acre heart in the tall grass in our front yard. With just a few close friends and family there, we made it official and never saw my wife smile so much and beam- ing with that happiness only an angel can show. I spent all my time making sure that she knew she was loved and I cared for her every day. To lose her so suddenly and unexpect- edly in such happiness you may feel the sorrow. I say this, that I wouldn't trade one second I had knowing and loving Tammy for all the sorrow in the world I am experiencing for her now. To the love of my life, mother and daughter. Tammy Lynn Newman you will be missed and you are mine and I am truly forever yours. This world is not our own and I will see you in my dreams until we are reunited again. I love you. Your husband Michael Newman No formal services are scheduled at this time. This allows the doctor to sign the certifi cate and fi ll out the cause of death. One of the most intriguing causes of death that I have seen is called "failure to thrive." While this may be a legitimate cause of death, I do wonder how many people get up each day and "fail to thrive." I am referring to the fact that each day we are given a choice to either live or to simply exist. We may be functional, but we are only going through the motions of living. Down deep in the heart of every person is a desire to live, but often times we let the hardships and trials of life discourage us from really living. During the experience of grief there must be a time that the "survivor" stops "surviving" and starts to live again. Whether it be the death of someone we love, the ending of a relationship, the loss of a job, an injury which leads to a physical disability or any other tragic event of life, we must all come to a point of decision to go on. When I was a young boy, I can remember my dad watching Friday night boxing on the television. I still have memories of a fi ght where one particular boxer was literally getting the "stuffi ng" beat out of him. Every time he would get hit, he would shake it off and keep on fi ghting. At one point in the fi ght, he even got knocked down (and as he lay there I am sure staying down for the count would have been an option running through his mind) but he slowly got back to his feet. Not only did he get back up, he came back and won the match. We all are going to get hit hard by the events of life at one time or another and might even get knocked down. The key to living is not staying down, but choosing to get back up. We can either "fail to thrive" or we can choose to live. LANNY FUNCHESS -FUNERAL DIRECTOR- Points To Ponder LIVE!
