Page 47 Second place Go! Staff Daily Journal (Franklin) Comments: The front page feature design and layout was enough to lift this entry into the top three, but the quality dipped further inside the section. While the inside was not unattractive, it did not possess the same depth and consis- tency to lift it into the top two. Third place No award given. Best Editorial Page/Category 22 First place Opinions Shea Van Hoy & Staff The News & Tribune (Jeffersonville) Comments: This is a strong local editorial page that serves its readers well as a leader on community issues. Second place Opinion Michael Wanbaugh The Goshen News Comments: Goshen is fortunate to have such an innovative mix to its editorial page, Third Place Opinion Grace Housholder, Dennis Nartker & Carol Ernsberger The News-Sun (Kendallville) Comments: A strong reflection of what is important to the community right here in an inclusive format. Best Use of Graphics/Category 23 First place Let there be lights; No walk in the park; A year in review Staff Pharos-Tribune (Logansport) Comments: No comments given. Second place Thought for food; Waiting list; Round and round Staff Daily Journal (Franklin) Comments: No comments given. Third place Holy Marion, Batman; Breathing life into history; Mississinewa Community Schools bucks curve on cursive Chuck Fetterhoff & Lauren Ziemann Chronicle-Tribune (Marion) Comments: No comments given. Best Online Site/Web Page/Category 24 See Page 67 for all divisions. Best Sports Section/Category 25 First place Sports Elizabeth Goodman, Greg Mengelt & Kevin Harris The News & Tribune (Jeffersonville) Comments: Hands down the winner in this classification. Organization, use of graphics and photography are clearly at a higher level than most of the papers in the classification. Solid writing and interesting paper. Second place Sports Staff Daily Journal (Franklin) Comments: Nice, solid paper, but lacks the excitement and pizzazz of some of the other papers in the category. Could work on page layout and design. Third place Sports Staff The Goshen News Comments: Not nearly as visually appealing as several of the other papers in the category. However, solid writing and a clear vision of what to cover lifts the paper above some of the competition. Best Feature Section or Pages/ Category 26 First place So in Claire Munn The News & Tribune (Jeffersonville) Comments: Very attractive layout. Feature stories in each sample were informative and well-organized in a way that was easy to read and absorb. Quality graphics and style were also a plus. Division 4
