Best Use of Graphics/Category 23 First place Leading the pack; Running on empty; Healthy savings Staff Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: The graphic artist(s) did an excellent job break- ing out relevant information to help illustrate the stories. I also like the variety of info graphics used – it shows thought in determining which tool would best break technical infor- mation down. I'm sure readers appreciate the quality of the graphics used. One note for the future is to avoid use of acronyms without first identifying what the letters stand for. Overall, stellar work. Second place No award given. Third place No award given. Best Online Site/Web Page/Category 24 See Page 67 for all divisions. Best Sports Section/Category 25 First place Sports Brian Smith The Corydon Democrat Comments: Solid writing. Lots of content. Could work on page design and photography. Second place Sports Ed Cahill The Press-Dispatch (Petersburg) Comments: Tremendous amount of sports coverage. Some solid photos, but poorly laid out and designed. Third place Sports Kevin Lilly, Ted Schultz & Staff Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: Page layout and design are solid. Writing is inter- esting. Compared to the other papers in the category, suffers from a lack of content. Best Feature Section or Pages/ Category 26 First place Arts & Entertainment Ben Skirvin & Staff Brown County Democrat (Nashville) Comments: Great, eye-catching graphics and good use of packaging stories with photos. An appealing variety of sto- ries, but they all fall under the arts & entertainment theme. Second place Out There Kevin Lilly & Staff Comments: Again, well-done graphics. Good use of space and photos. Headlines were slightly confusing as there wasn't much clue as to what the story was about. But over- all, great job. Division 2 Third place Flair Staff The Corydon Democrat Comments: Great setup for the feature story. Great use of color and nice stories that impact the community. It might be nice if there were more on the front page than one story – it almost looks like a space killer more than adding to the pack- age. Also headlines are somewhat confusing for someone who doesn't have the background. But overall, good job.
