TV Media Weekly | November 15 - 21, 2014 8 | Sunday afternoon Baccarin ("V") may have just wrapped up her run in Show- time's "Homeland" — notching an Emmy nod in the process — but she's already lined up a num- ber of different roles in the near future, including in a highly popu- lar new superhero drama. The "Firefly" companion will officially make her debut on Fox's "Gotham" as Dr. Leslie Thompkins later this season, with the possi- bility of being promoted to series regular if (and most likely when) this crime series gets a second- season order. Fans of the Batman comic book series will know Dr. Thompkins as Thomas Wayne's co-worker and friend, later becoming a confidante for Bruce as she helps take care of him following his parents' mur- ders. Baccarin's Thompkins will first appear on the show early in 2015, where she'll star alongside Ben McKenzie ("The O.C."). But wait! Baccarin has her finger in yet another pie, albeit a slightly smaller one. The upcoming final season of CBS's "The Mentalist" will be bringing back guest stars from over the years, and Baccarin will reprise her role as Erica Flynn. It's a work schedule that can make even the best workaholic's head spin, but Baccarin is handling it like a pro. Look for the busy bee to pop up in exciting new roles over the next few months. Circling the tank: There's noth- ing more intimidating than being swarmed in a tank by a group of hungry, ruthless sharks. They're ready to take a bite out of you at any moment's notice, and it takes someone cunning, skillful and sav- vy to survive. Of course, I'm talking about the Sharks of big business. ABC's hugely popular reality se- ries "Shark Tank" premiered its sixth season in September to the best numbers the show has ever seen, with 7.45 million viewers. Now, the alphabet network is tak- ing viewers on an extended jour- ney, following the startup busi- nesses after they strike a deal on the show. There's no word on when "Be- yond the Tank" will hit the air- waves, but with the success of its parent show, it should be intrigu- ing to see how it fares when it fi- nally does. ABC has invested in 10 hour-long episodes, and each epi- sode will catch up with a former "Shark Tank" participant to see how his or her business is making out, how the Sharks' investment helped grow that business and where things are going. It may be frightening to be sur- rounded by a group of ferocious sharks, but for some people, it's an- other walk in the park. "Beyond the Tank" has received a series or- der from ABC, letting viewers take a peek at life after striking a deal on "Shark Tank." Though there's no set premiere date yet, the al- phabet network is hoping for con- tinued success with this new series. Look for it in the near future. 11/16 1 PM 1:30 2 PM 2:30 3 PM 3:30 4 PM 4:30 5 PM 5:30 6 PM 6:30 S1 S2 K WTTV 4 What Went "Back to the Failure" What Went Down "You've Got Fail" Bringing Down the House ('03, Com) Steve Martin.
