Victory Christian Cen- ter founding Pastor, Sha- ron Daugherty, lead Tulsa to pray for the elections and our government leaders. Joining her was Pastor Luis Torres, Pastor in Sapulpa, and other local pastors in one accord, to pray and worship God for our nation. e National Day of Prayer Task Force has joi- ned with hundreds of cross- denominations of all faiths through scheduled conferen- ce calls around the nation to pray for our government lea- ders. It appeared that their prayers have worked. Dr. Samuel Rodriquez, President of the National Hispanic Christian Leader- ship Conference (NHCLC) Conela said this about the 2014 Mid-Term Election Results: "e outcome of the 2014 mid-term elections ser- ves as repudiation to the idea of perpetual gridlock and the status quo. Voters determi- ned that a Congress in the hands of the Republicans and a White House under the stewardship of a Demo- crat can prayerfully result in bipartisan solutions that will benefit all Americans. "Accordingly, we call upon the newly elected Repu- blican-led Congress to resu- rrect Abraham Lincoln's jus- tice platform and engage Ronald Reagan's optimism in passing legislation that ele- vates life, strengthens fami- lies, protects religious liber- ty, and integrates millions of undocumented individuals created in God's image into the fullness of the American experience by passing immi- gration reform. "Moreover, Hispanics voted and will continue to play an even more significant role in elections to come. e good news extends from the fact that America's Hispanic electorate continues to emer- ge as the quintessential inde- pendent voting constituency free from political manipula- tion but fully engaged in pro- phetic activism. "To that regard, we call upon both parties to work together for the greater good. For at the end of the day when the donkey and the elephant work together in advancing our God-given rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness then together we advance the Lamb's agenda and reemer- ge as 'a city on a hill.'" NHCLC/Conela is the largest Hispanic Chris- tian organization represen- ting millions of Evangelicals, 40,118 U.S churches and more than 500,000 churches across the globe. Seeking to reconcile evangelist Billy Graham's message of salva- tion with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s march of prophe- tic activism, the NHCLC emphasizes "7 Directives" of Life, Family, Compassio- nate Evangelism, Stewards- hip, Justice, Education and Youth.
