Visualization as Meditation Silently say the following to yourself: I am lying on my back. I am fully relaxed. I am at peace with myself. I am leaving this peaceful body behind. I move in the direction of an infinite yellow-orange light. As I move away from my body, my body looks like a small white dot on the ground. I keep moving away from it. I do not see it anymore. Now I see the blue and white ball of the Earth suspended in the sky. It becomes smaller and smaller. Now it is the size of a ping-pong ball. Now it looks like a spot in the dark space. I almost do not see it. I see only the infinite yellow- orange light that is all-encompassing. I am gravitating toward it. I'm almost next to it. I plunge into it. I feel like a drop of rain falling into an ocean of bliss. I am assimi- lated into this depth of joy. It is total bliss. It is supernal delight. It is joy unalloyed. It is infinite consciousness enjoying itself eternally. I am identified with it. My nature is the same as its. I and it are inseparable. I want to carry this delight back to Earth. I try to separate myself from it. I extricate myself. Full of joy, ecstasy and happiness, I head back toward the Earth. I see a small dot encircled by darkness. As I come closer, I recognize it as the Earth, our home. It looks like a blue and white ball. It becomes larger and larger. Now I can see my body as a white dot. I come closer and closer. I'm almost next to my body. I stop close to it. I want to get rid of all its negativity. I empty my brain of egoism, selfish- ness, unhappiness and frustration and flood it with joy, happiness, contentment, friendliness, care, concern, compassion and humanhood. I am not the self as presented to me and constructed by my upbringing in a culture and society. My real self is infinite consciousness enjoying itself eternally. That is really me! Now I clean my heart of negative emotions. Anger, fear, frustration, fright, jealousy, lashing back, attachment, repul- sion, fear of death and clinging to life are learned responses. I empty my heart of these and fill it with generosity, compas- sion, service, courage, confidence, self- esteem, love, care, concern and universal humanhood. Now I get rid of all my body's ills and diseases. I clear up all that which puts me at dis-ease with myself because I want to be at ease with myself. Now I flood my entire being with health and happiness. I am joy unalloyed — total delight — supernal bliss. I am a spiritual being having only human experience. I celebrate this state for 4-5 minutes by being totally alert to it. This is me as a real self. I take this joyful self and simmer it down into my daily activities. This is the joy of being alive and living as a human being! Dr. Ashok Kumar Malhotra's articles are condensed from his books.
