West Sidney-based artist heavily influenced by popular culture “We are all victims of the information age- everyday we’re bombard- ed by millions of images and media clips. I am really intrigued by this phenomenon and it manifests in my work through an extremely diverse and contrasting array of themes. I’ll paint a series of Human Insects and follow it with portraits of nude celebrities. The unifying element throughout my body of work is my stylization. I’ve taken bits and pieces from various art movements and kind of created my own genre-- part anime and part surrealism, painted in a realistic man- ner, with elements of modern, touches of color block and field … and definitely heavily influenced by pop. What would I call it? ‘Hyper- modernism’? ‘Neo-surrealist cartoon’? I’m not sure, but it creates these curious juxtapositions which I find fascinating _ I am mesmer- ized by contrasts.” _ Albert Crudo artist’s statement McDonna: Over a Billion Serviced, 2000 The Cupcake of Prague, 2000 Crudito Degli Spiriti, 2007 End of Civilization as We Know It, 2004 Me, organically, 2004 June 30, 2011 O-Town Scene 9
