Wilkinson
Devotes his days to citizens
of the sea and of the shore
P
atrick Wilkinson and his bud-
dy Bob Polaro have a running
contest to see who has spied the
most whales off the Santa Cruz coast-
line this season. Polaro reports more
than 60 sightings, while Wilkinson has
seen 35 whales breeching, spouting
and traveling through the waters of
the Monterey Bay National Marine
Sanctuary. But, as a Bay Net volunteer
along with Polaro, Wilkinson knows
he still may catch up. In fact, he saw
another one just yesterday.
