By Kirsten Klahn Special to The Freeman TOWN OF DELAFIELD – Spend your summer days soaking up some classic cars. Several local car shows are driving through the area this summer. First on the docket is a show held in the parking lot at Weissgerber's Gasthaus, 2720 N. Grandview Blvd., Waukesha, which runs every Wednesday through Sept. 3. Live music begins at 5:30 p.m. each week, and food and beverages are available. Attendees can expect to view between 150 and 200 cars each week. Kim's Lakeside, W303-N2582 Maple Ave., Town of Delafield, holds a car show on the first Monday of every month, with the last one in Septem- ber. The show runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and there are drawings for free food, drinks and prizes, said Kim Fintel, the restaurant's owner. The customers vote on their favorite classic car, and the winner's car is featured on the restaurant's website for a week, she said. The Hardee's Car Show, N101 High- way 83, Delafield, is held from 5 p.m. to dusk every Tuesday night through Sept. 30. And, if you're hoping to switch things up this summer, opt for a boat show instead. The 10th annual Pewaukee Antique & Classic Boat Show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 16 at Pewaukee Lakefront Park, 222 W. Wisconsin Ave. "There are 40 to 50 antique boats, music, food, and classic cars," said Elaine Kroening, executive director at Positively Pewaukee. "It's a fun event." In addition to boats, expect to see 1900s bikes, an art fair, kids toy boat painting and a closing ceremony honoring veterans. Classic car fans who attend the Waukesha County Fair won't be dis- appointed. The fair holds a classic car show on July 20. The show is free with paid admission to the fair, said Shari Black, the executive director of the Waukesha County Fair. Entrance lineup begins at 2:30 p.m. and admission is free for participat- ing drivers and a guest, Black said. There's also a people's choice contest, where those attending the show can vote on their favorite car. Trophies are provided, but people are usually in it for the bragging rights, Black said. "There is a wide variety of cars here," Black said. "Some are classic, older cars, and there are also cars like hot rods, Trans Ams and vintage Corvettes. It's an event that people get excited about."
