"Grilling is more than a way to cook food; it's a way to shut off, relax, disappear from life for a bit, sort of a manly way to medi- tate," said Metsa, a Delafield resi- dent. "I think I'm with the major- ity of the world when I say I pre- fer the old Weber charcoal taste and experience. Yet, due to the pace of life today, I'm more likely to be pushing a start button and watching the magic happen." There are a lot of companies that manufacture charcoal and gas grills, but the one that first comes to mind more often than not is Weber. The iconic grill company has been around for more than 60 years, and the largest local display of its prod- ucts and accessories can be found at Ace Hardware in Delafield. "We have a total of 18 different models on display in the store," said owner Adam Hahn, as he gazed out over the showroom floor. "We also have a knowledge- able staff when it comes to grilling." Hahn didn't reveal how many grills the store sells during the busy summer season, but because the store carries the entire line on hand, customers don't have to wait for special orders. That's key for those who grill out only in the summer months, which can be limited by Wisconsin's weather. "We sell more gas grills than charcoal," he said. "That's been the trend, as more people move to the gas grills." Hahn said there are four main benefits to gas grills. "It's more convenient. It has a quick heating time and it burns very clean," he said. "You can also maintain the temperature easier with a gas grill. You can turn the burners up or down as needed. Third, cleaning up is a lot easier. Also, the actual square inches of space is more on a gas grill, not to mention the added side burner that many of them have." But, when you think about tail- gating or camping, you probably see yourself next to a charcoal But don't be afraid to try something new Submitted photo Store owner Adam Hahn stands among the many Weber gas grills on display at Ace Hardware in Delafield. The trend for several years has been away from charcoal grills to the convenience of gas grills. See GRILLING/Page 4
