welcome! Subscriptions and Book Orders: Toll Free: 888-22-SHORE • Online: www.jerseyshorevacation.com Welcome to the New Jersey Shore, and thank you for reading LONG BEACH ISLAND Vacation Guidebook & Map, the summertime guide to sun and fun on Long Beach Island and in Southern Ocean County. Our publications and website are designed to bring you a wealth of information to make your life more enjoyable "down the Shore." If you're a long-time visitor or a local resident, you may find things you haven't discovered or be reminded of offerings you may have forgotten. When using these resources, you'll find a myriad of information to make your time at the Shore more rewarding and exciting. On our cover and throughout our pages, we are proud to present paintings and photographs by some of the Shore's most talented artists and photographers. This summer's cover features a detail of the painting "Orange Umbrella" by LBI artist Lori Bonanni. The image of a sunbather at Surf City captures the feeling of a bright summer day on the beach. Throughout our guides, you'll find many places to go and things to do including a calendar of events, farmers' markets, area information, local attractions, activi- ties, entertainment, beaches, parks and recreation areas, public golf courses as well as historic sites and museums. You'll also find comprehensive guides to accommo- dations, stores and galleries, real estate, and our dining out section—one of the best sources available for restaurants and nightlife on LBI. Just released is Volume II of "Aftermath – Images of Superstorm Sandy at the Jersey Shore" by photographer David Turton and published by Jersey Shore Publications. Volume I (released in October 2013) covers the catastrophe in Ocean County on the barrier Island from Seaside Park to Point Pleasant Beach. Volume II covers Coastal Monmouth County—from Manasquan to Sea Bright. On the morning and days after the Superstorm devastated much of the Jersey Shore, David headed out on foot and by boat to document the storm's aftermath. In these books are presented his visionary images of the catastrophe. These aston- ishing photographs preserve not only the aftereffects of the Superstorm in these regions but also David's personal journey through his beloved and now destroyed Jersey Shore. Rarely has there been a set of books that have documented in such detail the aftermath of a catastrophic storm. With more than 435 historic photographs in both volumes, these important books preserve what happened to this region for future generations lest they forget the unfathomable power of the sea. A portion of the profits from these books is being donated to various charities that continue to help victims of the storm. For more information, please see pages 6 and 7. Please be sure to see our coffee table art book, "Long Beach Island Rhapsody," featured on page 58 as well as our other books about the Jersey Shore featured on pages 58–65. They are available for purchase at stores throughout the Jersey Shore as well as online. Attend our summertime book signing events (featured on our website) for your artistic and literary pleasure.
