This year's event titled "Freedom and Blessings" is sponsored by the Ozaukee County Historical Society and the Wisconsin Fraternal Congress. A special patriotic program featuring Speaker, Patrick MacGillis, retired Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Ar- my will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14. MacGillis' speech is entitled "Our Flag Throughout the Years—Still Worth Defending." Soloist, Zack Scherzer, and the Milwaukee Festival Brass Band will perform patriotic musical selections. The grounds and historic schoolhouse which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places will be open for tours from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. The Avenue of State Flags featuring all 50 states will line the walkways leading up to the courtyard at the schoolhouse. Betsy Ross will make an appearance and there will be free schoolhouse tours availa-ble from noon to 5:00 p.m. each day. Free shuttle bus service is available from Ozaukee County Pio-neer Village, just south of Stony Hill School at 4880 Highway I in the Town of Saukville. Free memen-tos, ice cream, cookies and beverages will be served after the program. The event is a wonderful opportunity to take a step back in time and reflect on our many "Freedoms and Blessings" as we celebrate at the birthplace of National Flag Day. The event is entirely free and open to the general public.
