From Arizona State, Zach Cerbo and Tony DiMartino will join Forest City. Cerbo, a freshman catcher has only appeared in three games and is 1-2 with a triple. Prior to ASU, Cerbo hit .524 with four homeruns and 30 RBI's his senior year at Bergen Catholic. "I have spoke to some people that I know up in New Jersey," Owls Field Manager Andrew Ciencin commented when asked about Cerbo. "They all had great things to say about Zach. He is a hard working kid who loves to play the game." Tony DiMartino, a sophomore fi rst baseman at Arizona State had seven at-bats last year with four hits and a homerun. DiMartino has not appeared in a game this season. "Tony is a big hitting left handed infi elder. He has an extraordinary work ethic so I am very excited to have him in the clubhouse this summer" Steven Pallares and Danny Sheehan will join the Owls from San Diego State. Pallares, a junior utility player is currently hitting .264 with four doubles, fi ve RBI's, and also has nine steals. Pallares spends most of his time in the outfi eld but also gets some starts at 1st and 3rd base. When asked about Pallages, Field Manager Andrew Ciencin commented, "Steven will add experience and speed to our outfi eld. He can also see some time on the mound for us as well." San Diego State infi elder Danny Sheehan has been limited to 29 at-bats this season. Last season, Sheehan got starts at shortstop, third base and in the outfi eld. "Danny can see time all around the diamond for us," commented Ciencin. "He will be very helpful to us this summer." The Owls continued to pan for California gold when bringing in UC Davis right-handed pitchers Max Cordy and Craig Lanza. Redshirt sophomore Max Cordy has started ten games this year for the Aggies. His freshman season, he was the teams closer and made a team high 25 appearances fi nishing with six saves and 4.29 ERA. "Max can be one of our starters this summer," stated Field Manager Andrew Ciencin. "He keeps the ball down and will add experience to the pitching staff." Craig Lanza, a redshirt junior has been limited to fi ve games, pitching 2.2 innings. "Lanza has been battling some injuries throughout this year," mentioned Ciencin. "As long as he is healthy, Lanza can be very good out of the bullpen for us. He can be used in all types of situations." The Owls will begin the 2014 season at home on May 27th as they take on Columbia. Fans can purchase season tickets, ½ season plans and 5-game Fireworks plans by calling the Owls offi ce at 828-245-0000. Key dates for the 2014 season include: Fireworks Games on Friday May 30th, Saturday July 5th and Saturday August 2nd, as well as, taking on the Chinese Taipei National team on July 7th.
