Host Families play a crucial role in summer collegiate baseball, as many of the players on the Owls roster are not from Forest City. As NCAA student athletes, Owls players are not allowed to accept pay for playing in a summer league. As a result, summer collegiate baseball leagues have traditionally relied on local families to house their players. Host families are only obligated to provide a spare bedroom and access to a bathroom and laundry facilities. Each player is responsible for their own food and transportation, although the host family may include the player in family meals and activities. Hosting an Owls player can be a rewarding experience for the host family. Owls players are excellent role models for young children and teenagers, and are great company for the entire household. Often players and host families share a friendship that lasts well beyond the end of the season. Host Families play one of the most important roles in the lives of our players and success of the baseball season. Families whole-heartedly open their homes to these players as they follow their dreams to pursue a career in baseball. Host Families will receive 2 Box Seat Season Tickets for each player they keep for the 2014 season. The Owls will have a special recognition of the families and their players at one of the Owls games throughout the season.
