By Kirsten Klahn Special to The Freeman ELM GROVE – Whether you're in the mood to see a classic muscle car, an exotic automobile, or a vintage motorcycle, local car shows have got you covered this summer. Kicking off the car show season is Cruisin' the Grove on the second and fourth Mondays in June, July and August, said Dan Riedel, a Cruisin' the Grove organizer. The event begins at 5 p.m., runs until dark and is held behind the Silver Spur, 13275 Watertown Plank Road, Elm Grove. "We're talking about a good vari- ety of cars," Riedel said. "It's not just all hot rods – there's a little bit of everything. You name it, we have it there." On an average night, Riedel said the Cruisin' events will attract any- where from 50 to 70 people. Cruisin' the Grove invites everyone to come check out the cars, including fami- lies and children, he said. "It's a nice evening out. There's a lot of shade in the parking lot, which works good for hot summer days," Riedel said. "There's also food, drinks and music available." Cruisin' the Grove also has a free street show on Aug. 3, featuring a wide display of cars and motorcy- cles. Church,Wilson Center events As part of its Dominic Days, the St. Dominic Catholic Parish in Brook- field is holding its 21st annual Spe- cial Edition Dominic Days Car Show on July 13. Held on the St. Dominic campus, 18255 W. Capitol Drive, the car show's gates open at 9 a.m., with the show running until 5 p.m., said John Engel, one of the planners for the annual event. Last year, the car show boasted over 450 entries. There's no entry or admission fee, although the church accepts nonper- ishable food items or cash donations for the St. Dominic Catholic Parish. "As a spectator you're going to see a heck of a lot of variety," Engel said. "There's everything from muscle cars to antique cars to the exotic."
