When it comes to the relevance of a person, the matter at hand would be our daily lives. Have you ever thought about how relevant your life is to the daily lives of others? When dealing with the loss of a loved one, the one issue that we must deal with is the person's relevance to our daily life. I believe the struggle back to a normal life after the death of someone is in direct proportion to the relevancy of that person. It is a sad commentary on a person's life when a person lives and dies without any real relevancy to the lives of others. There is never a life lived which does not have the potential to make a difference in the lives of those around them, but the secret to relevancy is found in the act of giving ourselves to others. I often tell my kids that in order to fi nd a true friend, you must fi rst be a true friend. Relevancy is found in loving someone the way you would want to be loved. One day you will have your appointment with death and the value of what you leave behind will determine your relevancy. Material possessions will decay, fame will be forgotten, achievements will fade as memories, but the love and care we gave to others will last more than a lifetime. You don't have to have a lot of things to be relevant, just the ability to give of yourself. How relevant is your life to those around you?
