We'll get just that this weekend and especially next week, when a "Bermuda High" gets into position to pump in Gulf moisture and a weak front approaches our area slowly. Moisture will build each day in the afternoon sunshine, and some areas will get afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The best chances are next week when everyone gets hit with some strong thunderstorms. Cooler weather is showing up after that cold front, so the 90 degrees recently isn't here to stay just yet. Have a Happy Mother's Day weekend! May 11 The Twisted Pear, a new specialty shop in Downtown Forest City, had its grand opening and ribbon-cutting last Saturday. Owner, Stacey Conner, cut the ribbon surrounded by friends, family, town offi cials, and members of the Chamber of Commerce. The store offers home decor, gifts, accessories, and a large selection of craft beer and wine. The Twisted Pear is located at 106 East Main Street in Forest City. Store hours are Tuesday-Friday 11am-6pm and Saturday from 9am-4pm. THE TWISTED PEAR RIBBON CUTTING THE TWISTED PEAR RIBBON CUTTING Article provided by: Justin Conner PAWS has, since February 17, 2014, spayed/neutered 63 dogs and cats at no cost to qualifi ed owners at the Humane Alliance Veterinary Hospital in Asheville, NC, through grant support from Community Partnership for Pets in Henderson County. There is currently a waiting list of 214 pets (126 dogs & 88 cats) that desperately need this service, and that number continues to grow every day. We need your support now to raise $3,000 to stop unwanted litters of dogs and cats in Rutherford County, thereby keeping them out of the high-kill animal control facility. If we raise the full $3,000, Lulu's Rescue will match it dollar-for-dollar up to $3,000. The total amount of $6,000 will allow us to spay/neuter every dog and cat on PAWS' current waiting list. New pets are added every day. PAWS of Rutherford County is a strategic partner of Lulu's Rescue, Inc., of Bucks County, PA, a 501(c)3 organization. All donations received are for the benefi t of PAWS and Lulu's Rescue takes no fees or commissions.
