Danville Commercial News, IL: Food Apr 20, 2014 to Apr 26, 2014 By Andrew Warren TV Media S nacks! They're everywhere. Sugary, salty, fatty and oh so delicious. We know that they're not good for us, but still we chow down on them. I must admit, I'm guilty of indulging, but hey — all things in moderation, right? "Unwrapped" (which is currently on hiatus) has always been a fan favorite on the Food Network. After a number of seasons spent div- ing into the stories behind some of our most iconic food brands, the show has finally landed itself a spiritual sister show. "Rewrapped," which premieres with two back-to-back episodes the evening of Monday, April 21, is a competition show for people with a love of some of our most iconic snacks: doughnuts and potato chips, Twinkies and Tastykakes. Hosted by former 'N Sync member Joey Fa- tone and with a rotating panel of judges led by "Unwrapped's" Marc Summers, each episode of "Rewrapped" will invite three cooking com- petitors into the kitchen to try their hands at two challenges involving one of our most well- known treats. It's a high-energy competition with high stakes: the winning chef will walk away with a year's supply of the snack food used in the episode. That's a pretty sweet prize (pun intended), but winning it won't be easy. In the first round of the competition, after the mystery snack is revealed to the sweet-toothed contestants, they'll have to recreate the food in question. With no recipe and only their own taste buds to guide them, they'll have to rely on their pal- ates and knowledge of both texture and flavor to come up with the closest representation that they can. After that grueling round, all three chefs will move on to the second and final round. Now the tables are turned; this time they'll be cook- ing with the episode's featured snack. They can make whatever they want, but the ingredient must be the star of the dish, and the judges will definitely be keeping an eye out for creativity. There sure are a lot of cooking competitions out there, but "Rewrapped" may be the sweet- est of the bunch. Catch back-to-back episodes Monday, April 21, on the Food Network.
