Continued from Page 16 Zummo and Origoni completed the menu about a month ago, but have been working on the decor for sev- eral months. They had custom leather chairs and booths made, installed low-lighting and set up a granite-top, leather-padded bar. Local craftsman Greg Emerson, a member of the Twelve Tribes, made the wood-and- iron front door, and wrought iron decorative details throughout the restaurant, which were inspired by the simply floral pattern in those custom- made leather chairs. High-back leather booths line the exposed brick walls. Custom-made windows on the street side of the restaurant will be open in warmer weather to create an open-air dining feel, according to Origoni. Low-light- ing, fresh flowers in vases and a semi-circle booth named the “Colosseum” complete the upscale atmosphere, which customers Satur- day night appreciated. “We love the ambiance, starting with the Jaclyn and Adrian Origoni and Georgia Paulino and David Zummo at the bar at Prime 289 on Monday. front door,” said Christine Juliano, who sat at the bar with her husband on their monthly massage and dinner out night. “My husband said it feels like being in Man- hattan,” she said. “In the car I said, ‘Maybe some place new and fabulous has opened in Oneonta’ ... we like nice, classy places.” Customers also had positive reviews of the food. “Everything was good,” said Paul Patterson, who was at Prime on Saturday with his family. “The meats were spectacular.” Prime 289 is something different for One- onta, and if Zummo and Origoni’s hunch that area residents and visitors want an upscale downtown dining option is true, the restau- rant looks to be on the path of success. _ Cassandra Miller April 21, 2011 O-Town Scene 17 Bartender Matthew Van Buren explains menu items to customers Saturday night.
