WEST BEND — Think of an arty rendering
of a huge Swiss Army knife.
That's a visual image of the performing
and fine arts at the University of Wisconsin-
Washington County in West Bend.
"We have to be careful in scheduling
between play rehearsal and performances by
outside groups," said UW-WC music professor
Peter Gibeau, who directs the Moraine
Chorus, composed of university students and
community members or "communiversity."
Among the world-renown performers on
the two-year campus has been Pro Arte String
Quartet, comprised of University of
Wisconsin-Madison faculty. "Because we are
part the UW System we can afford them,"
Gibeau said.
All the activities put a demand on the UW-
WC Theatre. The Homegrown Theatre, com-
prised of home-school families, put its set on
wheels because of rehearsal and performanc-
es by Homegrown and other groups, said
Jeani Slaymer, the group's public relations
liaison.
