(Robin Hood Relief Fund).
Total Distributed (as of January
2014): approx. $1,500,000.
Beneficiaries: No income require-
ments for most programs.
Sandy Charities: By The Numbers
Hometown Heroes disburses funds
to pay bills, help with home repairs,
etc., based upon applicants' needs;
there are no income requirements.
For example, for some storm victims,
security deposits and rental assistance
checks are cut directly to the land-
lords. An application for assistance is
available on their website.
In addition, the Robin Hood Relief
Fund provided a $400,000. grant to
Hometown Heroes to distribute to
affected families in Toms River and
$300,000. for families in Ocean
Gate. This is the only program that
has income parameters as prescribed
by Robin Hood. To qualify, individu-
als or families must have damage to
their primary home, limited finan-
cial means, and additional financial
needs not covered by FEMA funds or
insurance. For more information on
these programs or to apply for aid,
visit their website.
