They are made to allow for easy cleaning and instal- lation. Also available is the North American Bluebird box style house for $15.00. Bluebird populations have declined by as much as 90% over the last 50 years. They are a cavity nesting bird and with the disap- pearance of dead trees and wooden fence posts, they lack enough sites to breed successfully. Bluebirds must also compete for nesting with the imported house sparrow. We can help the bluebirds by providing them with properly built and placed nesting boxes. Concerned citizens who provide bluebird houses and monitoring of them are helping the bluebirds make a strong recover.
