By Katherine Michalets Special to The Freeman CITY OF PEWAUKEE – Healthy fast food may seem like an oxymoron, but Brad and Lori Emmert made it their mission to sell tasty, nutritious and convenient meals when they opened All Good in October. The idea for the restau- rant evolved from when Brad Emmert was required to adopt a healthier lifestyle that included more nutritious food due to a heart condition. The couple soon learned how hard it was to go out and eat natu- ral food that was good for them and tasted good, too. Last March, the Emmerts decided to start a healthy fast-food business. In September they signed the lease and on Oct. 14 the doors opened to the restau- rant, which includes seat- ing inside and a drive-thru window. Items on the menu include an organic garden salad, energizing quinoa, lettuce wraps and infused waters. The ingredients are mostly organic and gluten- free, have no genetically modified organisms and contain no preservatives. While the food is prepared so it retains the most nutri- ents, Lori Emmert said it also tastes great. She said customers will bite into one of the dishes and say "Wow, I didn't think healthy could taste this good." "It will taste good because it's loaded with nutrients," Brad Emmert said. For those with a bit of a sweet tooth, the restaurant also offers a dessert called The Fix, which is a gluten- free chocolate cake with only 100 calories for $1.97. The dessert is small, but it helps to teach portion con- trol, Lori Emmert said. The items on All Good's menu were created by Lori Emmert, but it was her family that helped to taste- test them.
