February 5, 2014 Ozaukee Guide Recommends Las Vegas Nite Sat., Feb. 15 Rose-Harms Post 355 ~Grafton~ A new art show under way at The Arts Mill, 1300 14th Ave., will offer visitors a m u l t i - c o n t i n e n t , international art tour all under one roof. Global Fusion: An International Selection of Fine Art will spotlight varied art forms that explore diverse cultural perspectives and shared human experiences. The show, running through March 8, will include art from the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Highlighted artists are Andrew J. Andropolis, Minnie Bhupathi, Adrian Spinks and Gul Niazi. Works by regional artists will also be displayed. "We are thrilled with the incredible diversity, awareness and creativity that the works of Global Fusion display," said Sheri Bestor, founder and president of the North Shore Academy of the Arts. "These pieces will transport viewers to places they've never been, while reinforcing that art is a universal language that expresses itself in many different, profound ways." Andropolis, one of the featured artists, was a Sheboygan native and longtime Door County resident. Known as "Jack" to many, his art crossed over into multiple mediums, from paintings to sculptures to jewelry. A former art teacher at Southern Door High School, his skill, passion and creativity was displayed in numerous galleries as contemporary art, contemporary abstract art and modern art. Andropolis was one of Door County's longest living, continual resident artists. His work, influenced by Picasso, Degas, Renoir and Pollock, spanned more than 50 years of creation. During this time, Jack and his wife, Ann, raised four sons and operated both a resort and restaurant.
