Kathleen Vinehout's, D-Alma, decision not to enter the race would have no impact on how she runs her campaign to oust Gov. Scott Walker. "It's unfortunate about the accident and that having to be part of her decision, but from the time I got into this race, I was always focused on how I was going to win the general election in November and so it doesn't really change anything with regards to my strategy," Burke, a former state Commerce Secretary and Trek Bicycle executive, said during an interview with Conley News Service. Vinehout broke her arm in a car crash during a December snowstorm and said the recovery would make running for governor difficult. Burke said that the majority of the $1.8 million her campaign has raised so far had come from people willing to donate to her campaign and $400,000 was her own money . "I will put in what I can of my own resources, but it's still a fraction of what will be needed," she said. Supports raising minimum wage During the first 12 weeks of her campaign, Burke said, she had put roughly 12,000 miles on her car traveling around the state and she was hearing a consistent message in most places. "People want to make sure we are focused on the economy, on creating good-paying jobs and there's still a lot more work to be done. We're not creating jobs at the same rate as the other states around us," she said.
