LOOKING BACK
INFAMOUS
CASES
L
as Vegas has seen its fair share of highprofile cases play out in courtrooms.
Pictured here are some of the more infamous local cases . Top right, defense
lawyer Oscar Goodman received nationwide attention in the 1970s and 1980s defending the late
mobster Anthony "Tony the Ant" Spilotro on murder charges in Chicago and federal racketeering
charges in Las Vegas. Spilotro was killed gangland style in June 1986 in the Chicago area. Bottom right, attorney Michael Amador looks to his
client, Margaret Rudin, as a jury proclaims her
guilty of murder May 2, 2001 at the Clark County
Courthouse. Rudin was found guilty of killing
her husband, millionaire real estate developer
Ron Rudin, in December 1994. Above, defendant
Rick Tabish, left, talks with his attorney, Louis
Palazzo, while Sandy Murphy, middle, listens as
her attorney, John Momot, argues during a hearing in Clark County District Court. Murphy and
Tabish were convicted of robbery charges and
first-degree murder in the death of casino heir
Ted Binion on May 19, 2000. Their convictions
were overturned by the Nevada Supreme Court
in 2003, and both were acquitted of the murder
charges in 2004.
