The cold air, which originated from the Arctic, arrived in southeast Wisconsin Sunday night, causing Milwaukee's temperature to hit a low of 13 below zero Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Wind chills in southeast Wisconsin made it feel as cold as 45 below. The wind chill warnings and advisories remained in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday . The dangerously frigid air posed a health risk to residents and caused numerous clos- ings on Monday and Tuesday . "Extreme temperatures can create serious health hazards," said Commissioner of Health Bevan K. Baker. "The combination of bitterly cold temperatures and wind can lead to frostbite or life-threatening hypothermia." Milwaukee Public Schools closed Monday and Tuesday, with many other schools, including Cudahy and St. Francis, following suit. City of Milwaukee offices closed Monday but reopened Tuesday Night parking rules in .
