News/Events Scene Clothing Swap Saturday, Feb. 12 2-4 p.m. Location TBA Have clothes Contributed ‘Powaqqatsi’ and ‘Koyaanisqatsi’ will be presented at Hartwick College. Hartwick hosting film trilogy As part of Hartwick College’s 2010-11 “Consumption” theme, the school will present free public screenings of the Qatsi Trilogy, directed by Godfrey Reggio and featuring scores by composer Philip Glass. The three films employ a non-narrative documentary format in which images and mu- sic are utilized without commentary to explore the relationship between man, technology and the natural environment, a media release said. Reggio and Glass developed the style of “concert cinema,” which fuses poetic im- ages and original music to create “works of extraordinary emotive impact for audi- ences worldwide,” the release said. Reggio is prominent in the film world for his Qatsi films, which posit technology as the new and comprehensive global environment — “the new nature,” it said. The screenings are: • Today: “Koyaanisqatsi: Life Out of Bal- ance” • Jan. 27: “Powaqqatsi: Life in Transforma- tion” • Feb. 1: “Naqoyqatsi: Life as War All screenings begin at 7 p.m. in the Ander- son Theatre in the Anderson Center for the Arts on the Hartwick campus.
