But this year, two additional companies decided to vie for a chance to work with the county . Earlier this year, an internal county review group recommended awarding the $164 million contract to Dallas-based MV Transportation. However, legal action has prompted Milwaukee County officials to extend the MCTS operator contract, leaving the opportunity for another company, Lombard, Ill.-based Veolia Transportation, to also bid on the county's transit system. Alderman Robert Bauman, chair of the Transportation Review Board, said it's important to hear how the companies plan to address problems with the county's bus MILWAUKEE – Two companies are hoping for the chance to revamp Milwaukee County's transit system. MV Transportation and Veolia Transportation this month gave presentations to Milwaukee's Transportation Review Board highlighting their plans for the county's bus system that both companies say is behind the times and is struggling to keep up with new technology .
