The riders, many of whom rely on county transit as their primary mode of transportation, gathered at the Kelly Senior Center in Cudahy Dec. 11 and rode to Southridge Mall in Greendale for an event known as "We remain committed to everyone's safety at Southridge Mall, and this change has improved pedestrian safety and traffic flow for our visitors," Mokwa said in the statement. But a number of local leaders, including County Supervisor Pat Jursik, have, and continue to, decry Southridge's decision. Jursik, whose jurisdiction includes Cudahy helped initiate , last week's gathering at the Kelly Senior Center. Jursik is critical of Simon's decision, particularly since bus riders have to navigate through the mall's parking area and contend with traffic to enter the Get on the B.U.S.S. Simon Property Group, owner of Southridge, made the decision Nov. 1 to relocate the county's bus stop 1,000 feet away from the doors leading into the mall – a scenario that has caused controversy particularly for seniors , and persons with disabilities who might have mobility challenges. Efforts to reach Southridge management for comment on the relocation decision were unsuccessful. But Mary Mokwa, Southridge's general manager, has previously issued a statement on the matter.
