B-12 Wednesday, December 18, 2013 The Press-Dispatch OCU receives $1 million Lilly Endowment award Oakland City University is honored to receive a $1 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of Endowment's Initiative to Promote Opportunities Through Educational Collaborations. This grant will enable Oakland City University to increase opportunities for its students to connect with Indiana employers and strengthen their preparation for the workforce. "Oakland City Universi- ty is committed to holistically developing our students, preparing them academically and spiritually, and providing them with the real life experiences necessary to succeed in the workforce," stated OCU President Dr. Ray Barber. Additionally, this funding will be used to connect Oakland City University's current students and alumni with prospective employers in Indiana. Middle Patoka River Watershed Project update The Middle Patoka River Watershed Project is funded through a grant by the State of Indiana to monitor, improve and maintain the water quality of the watersheds covering much of Pike and Dubois counties. An aspect of the grant is a cost share program to assist in the cost associated with such activities. Due to the overwhelming demand for cost share funding in the Middle Patoka Watershed Project, we are no longer able to accept new applications for cost share at this time. We are currently seeking additional funding and encourage anyone interested in doing a project to contact us and ask to be put on a waiting list for when additional funding becomes available. There is still funding available for educational events available throughout the grant area. Anyone with projects or events of that nature are encouraged to contact us. Questions or information can be found at www. patokawatershed.org or by emailing Amanda BradshawBurks at abrad@inh2o.org.
