The weather in Winslow is still cold and the snow has melted a tiny bit, but you can still see it on the yards and fields right now. The temperature got a little above freezing for one day and we'll take that. Now it's back into the 20s again and some nights it dipped into the teens. The yard decorations in several counties are terrific to see. The white and colored lights are brighter this year against the snow covered ground. The small things you do could be your greatest achievement this year. Don't let the hustle and bustle of shopping get you down. It's not worth the pain it causes you and mostly your family—those you really love. Christmas is a time to have your family together and celebrate what you have, and embrace what could be the happiest day as you sit down to share the meal, watching the children open their presents, and then play with the box it came in; to talk with family before the time comes when we all have to return to our own homes until we get together again as a family who really loves each other. As the lights begin to dim this week, keep an eye on family and friends and do what you can for them, slow down as you travel to work or pleasure, and like I always say, smile, wave and say "hi" to everyone you see this week, and most important, have a Merry Christmas.
