If the new owners have a vision and feel of the current residents at Turnberry, namely the owners of the units, they will be properly persuaded and do the right thing for themselves and the unit owners. Absent of this synchronous partnership, the new owners will find it a hard sell. ... The unit owners, whether by design or not, are still a big variable in the success of the future operation of the new club. — Wilfrido Sy (FinnbeckSy) I am an owner, but not full-time resident, and could not be more excited and optimistic about the new ownership group opening the club back up. The reason we purchased and loved Turnberry Place was because of the Stirling Club. Without the Stirling Club, it would just be another upscale condo. I also am a strong advocate for mandatory membership, just like it was when everyone purchased at TBP, prior to shutting it down in May 2012. — John Desilets (jgd1998) On Ed Komenda's Nov. 19 vegasinc.com story about the ongoing battle between a Strip giant and the Culinary union ("Culinary, Bartenders unions reach agreement with MGM Resorts"): I didn't agree with the tactic of taking the message to the tourists. As a community we need all of the positive advertising we can get, not bad press from our own people. Gambling is everywhere now, and people can stay in their own state to do it. — Mitchzone On Ed Komenda's Nov. 19 vegasinc.com story about SLS President Robert Oseland's thoughts on the opening of the resort ("Will the SLS change the game for the north Strip?"): On the inside, most casinos look exactly alike. You've got loads of slot machines, several types of table games, bars and restaurants. I don't know what the SLS can do to "change the game" so to speak. Here's a novel idea: Let the customers win sometimes. Set the slot machines so you get more bonuses, lower the maximum penny bets and better the table game odds. Good idea? — Robert Kutner (RobertKutner) They need to do something with the rest of the north Strip. What about the old Fontainebleau? Is the old Wet 'n Wild property just going to stay vacant? Who will invest in the LVH property? What about the ugly eyesores known as the Riviera and Circus Circus? — Mike Conrad 19 12/11/13 5:37:03 PM
