It's super easy and super good, especially when topped with some vanilla ice cream. 5 regular canned biscuits (makes 10 pieces); 1 large apple, pared and cored; 1/2 cup brown sugar; 1/2 cup white sugar; 1/2 cup water; 1 stick margarine (I used butter, it's better). Place chopped apples wrapped in 1/2 biscuit in small casserole dish. Pour liquid over the apples and bake at 350º until brown. I double this recipe and after a cool down period, I refrigerate them and then microwave before serving. With 20 pieces, I'm always good to go. How yummy is this for the holidays. TIP: If you like cranberries, do the same thing with cooked or canned whole cranberries. I do it and add a touch of orange juice to each. Go ahead, surprise yourself. PIE Chess Pie Squares RHEBA WARD shares her recipe for Chess Pie Squares. 1 stick butter; 1 box (dry) yellow cake mix; 1 egg; 1 box powdered sugar; 1 8-ounce package cream cheese softened; 2 eggs. Melt butter in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Add cake mix and 1 egg. Mix. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl. Pour over cake mixture. Bake at 375º for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. COOKIES Date Nut Balls This Date Nut Balls recipe is courtesy of VICKY BLANTON. I keep these in a round tin and have them always ready for the holidays. Store in a cool place. 1 stick butter; 1 cup white sugar; 1 cup dates (seedless), chopped; 1 egg beaten; pinch salt; 1 teaspoon vanilla; 2 cups Rice Krispies; 1 cup angel flake coconut. Cook together, slowly stirring for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Add vanilla and Rice Krispies. Form into round balls. Roll in angel flake coconut.
