Photo finalists Photo of the Year finalists Division 1 Baseball Karen Branham The Times-Post (Pendleton) Comments: The expression on the face of the center child makes this photo the best in this category. Could have been cropped a little tighter, but the image captures a nice moment. Division 2 Prayer Alan Stewart The Corydon Democrat Comments: The bowling shot was a hands-down winner. The concentration on the kid's face along with the composition including the ball told a fun story. Division 3 Love, love, love Nicole Ott Columbia City Post & Mail Comments: Love, love, love captures a unique moment of laughter and holds two great expressions. The photo is cropped well, along with composed well with nice color and a prime moment between two kids. Strong and telling image. Lane King, 6, calls on a higher power to keep his bowling ball on the lane during a Bowl For Kids' Sake event at Colonial Lanes in Corydon, the main fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Division 4 Eye popping Thomas Russo Daily Reporter (Greenfield) Comments: None given. Division 5 Honor Tim Bath Kokomo Tribune Comments: Finalists in this division were all strong candidates, but the emotionally charged image of Sgt. Bradley Atwell's family receiving a purple heart at a football game made this photo stand out for the majority of judges. People of all ages, including Jade North, left, 5, and Ethan Krider, 3, celebrate Valentine's Day. An eye popping reaction comes from Mount Vernon's Elle Balbach on the winners podium moments after receiving her state champion's medal for the IHSAA 3A Girls Basketball State Championship. Mount Vernon defeated Hamilton Heights 61-47 for the state title. Page 8 Sgt. Bradley Atwell's family received his purple heart at a Taylor football game. Atwell, a Marine, was killed in Afghanistan. His sister Lauren Atwell, center, received the purple heart for the family.
