The design pulls you in and the great mix of stories keeps you hooked! Second place Sunday Business Roger Schneider The Goshen News Comments: None given Third place Business Sarah Einselen Pharos-Tribune (Logansport) Comments: None given Best Special Section/Category 28 First place Brave Hearts Staff Daily Journal (Franklin) Comments: An outstanding job in helping promote awareness of breast cancer, which touches everyone. Great stories and artwork throughout. Enjoyed seeing stories stretch from Page 1 to Sports to a section of its own. If people don't get the message after this, they never will. Our only negative is the pink paper, which we find distracting. Believe your stories and photos would have presented much better on regular white newsprint, with just touches of pink (logo, etc.) to call attention to ads, stories, etc. But nonetheless, great job! Second place Southern Indiana Fitness Source Staff The News & Tribune (Jeffersonville) Comments: We love magazines. A great presentation filled with lots of information, good photos, etc. Lots of good ata-glance type information, which is important when people don't have a lot of time to sit and read. Third place Kendallville: Sesquicentennial Celebration Staff The News-Sun (Kendallville) Comments: Congratulations on 150 years. What a nice tribute to your community and a great way to highlight many of the people, businesses, attractions and events, which have brought you to where you are. The celebration highlights at the bottom of the cover were very helpful. Best Community Service/Category 29 First place Grant County Economic Growth Council examination Matt Troutman & David Penticuff Chronicle-Tribune (Marion) Comments: Excellent watchdog reporting and editorializing that provided critical information to the public. Stay on it. Second place Retreat will be closed to public Maribeth Vaughn Daily Reporter (Greenfield) Comments: Good spotlight on an issue that, when presented to the public, allowed the community to voice their opinions. Third place Truck delivered spoiled food Noelle Steele Daily Reporter (Greenfield) Comments: By questioning this situation, the Daily Reporter not only helped restaurants that would have served spoiled food but also saved community members from consuming it. Best Newspaper Design/Category 30 First place Staff The Goshen News Comments: Use of skyboxes and images makes this newspaper stand out. I would want to buy a copy! Second place Staff The News-Sun (Kendallville) Comments: Centerpiece design is a winner here. I can tell careful thought went into each issue.
