Division 4 Best Feature Photo/Category 19 First place Slide Jeff Morehead Chronicle-Tribune (Marion) Comments: Clear winner. Really stood out to me. Second place Sunset hoops Michael Caterina Princeton Daily Clarion Comments: A great shot. Would be proud to run this on the front page of our paper. Third place Oompa Loompa Thomas Russo Daily Reporter (Greenfield) Comments: Loved this photo. Lots going on to make it interesting. Zy'tez Jackson, 8, careens down a plastic sheet made slick with soap and water during a slip 'n slide event Monday night at the Center for Success, an after school program connected with God's House Ministries, on the former city waterworks site near Seventh and Nebraska streets. Best Multiple Picture Group/Category 20 First place Stepping forward Dave Weatherwax The Herald (Jasper) Comments: An intimate look at the subject's recovery, good mix of images and strong compositions. Second place Quad Squad Rachel Mummey The Herald (Jasper) Comments: Same as first-place photo: good intimate look at the story, with a good mix of images. Third place Healing powers Dave Weatherwax The Herald (Jasper) Comments: Hard to say this is third. Another good mix of images that tell the story strongly. Survivor image was the only weak one in the batch. General category comments: Several strong entries above the rest. Besides the winners, the teacher and county fair stories were strong. There were good single images in several other entries. The three winners were strong start to finish. Best Picture Story with Audio or Video Story/Category 21 First place Grand night for Dallas Gibson Ken Ritchie & David Campbell The Madison Courier Comments: This was the most compelling story, but needed to be edited tighter. Second place Gibson County Shop With a Cop Michael Caterina Princeton Daily Clarion Comments: Good use of still photos in combination with video. Third place Cindy Leatherman: WOW program Chad Kline & James Tew The News-Sun (Kendallville) Comments: Good interviews, obviously hard to have a variety of shots, but shooter did a good job. Page 46 Ferdinand Elementary students listened as Levi Leffert of St. Meinrad told his story about losing his leg after a lawn mower accident when he was 5 years old.
