I didn't have to hunt for the picture. Second place Takeoff Elaine Moore Chronicle-Tribune (Marion) Comments: I usually like tight images, but this picture grabbed my attention. There is a lot going on in this picture. It left me wanting to see more. Third place Fireman Rich Janzaruk Times-Mail (Bedford) Comments: Looks like one of those days when the fireman says this one is lost. Liked the framing of the fireman and the still burning building. Emergency crews from LaPorte County EMS, Kankakee Volunteer Fire Department and LaPorte City Fire work to stabilize and extricate the driver of this vehicle after it collided with a New Prairie United School Corporation school bus. General category comments: The first place image was an easy one to pick for first place. It is a nice tight image with faces. It was a quick easy read. The second place photo has a good image of an event that probably was the talk of the town or anyone that happened to pass by that day. There were a number of nice fire photos but the dejected fireman grabbed me. Mirza, an 11-year-old Belgian Malinois, was euthanized due to a sudden illness.
