This is “Carrousel Only” in Winter except for special holiday hours if the weather permits for the Rotary Train. Train reopens with Spring Schedule in March. New Support Group for Depression and Bipolar Disorder Now people living with depression or bipolar disorder will have a new place to find hope, help and support. The local chapter of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) will host regular, confidential, peer-led, self-help support group meetings on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Shelby. DBSA support groups are open to anyone who is diagnosed with a mood disorder, has a family member or friend who is diagnosed, or who thinks they might have depression or bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). DBSA support groups are not run by professionals, but instead offer peer-to-peer support which is an important component of recovery from mental illness for many people. DBSA is the nation’s leading patient-directed organi- zation focusing on the most prevalent mental illnesses – depression and bipolar disorder. The organization has over 400 independent local chapters that operate over 1000 self-help support groups around the United States. Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby is launching our “Annual Old Man Winter Coat Drive”. It’s time to clean out those closets, and find some good use for those coats you don’t wear anymore! There are so many deserving people in our community who would appreci- ate a warm jacket. Drop off your coats so that they can be presented to the Cleveland County Abuse Prevention Council to help the less fortunate stay warm this winter. Help us make a difference in OUR community! This Winter Coat Drive will take place January 1st - January 30th at the Carillon Assisted Living of Shelby, 1550 Charles Road, Shelby. With your kind donations of time and fi nancial resources, Crossroads Rescue Mission was able to reach our community in many ways this year! • In August, we distributed 1000 bookbags to needy children, helping them get ready to go back to school • In November, over 200 people were fed during our Thanksgiving Dinner for the community • This December for Christmas we were able to: • Provide toys for over 80 fi nancially distressed families; that was over 200 children! • Present DSS with 200 gift bags with toiletry items for the County’s Children in foster care. • Gave 45 bags with toiletry items to the residents of a local senior’s home. • Distribute 35 bags of toiletry items to local Alzheimer’s patients • And provided 30-40 toys for children who may have to visit the local ER during the holidays Crossroads of Hope for the Addictions of Life
