Multimedia press releases coming to inbox near you Newspapers will have easy access to written content, photos, video T he Hoosier State Press Association's partnership with a press release service is designed to simplify newspapers' jobs of covering community and regional news. HSPA-affiliate GistCloud Indiana works with customers to issue targeted releases that include text, photos, logos, videos, audio, web links and more. An easy-to-access electronic format puts all of the information for a brief or story at a reporter's fingertips. Editors can expect to see releases from GistCloud Indiana in their email inboxes, and reporters will be able to sign up to receive releases associated with their beats (more details on this to come). To establish a different or additional email address for receiving GistCloud Indiana releases, please send an email to Shawn Goldsby at sgoldsby@hspa.com with the appropriate names and email addresses. Newspapers are under no obligation to use press releases from GistCloud Indiana, said Steve Key, HSPA executive director and general counsel. "The HSPA board of directors hopes the information assists members with quick turnaround time for stories in print and online," Key said. GistCloud is a Redwood City, Calif.-based company that provides a suite of multimedia communication tools and press release distribution methods. Gregory Heisler, a New York-based photographer, will give a presentation as part of the Cannon Explorers of Light Series during the event Saturday, Dec. 7 in Indianapolis. He also will attend the annual photo seminar and pizza night for photographers Friday, Dec. 6 at The Indianapolis Star. Heisler's expertise will be a terrific addition to the Newsroom Seminar training lineup, said Karen T. Braeckel, HSPA Foundation director. "He is a sought-after lecturer at international seminars," Braeckel said. "The Newsroom Seminar Committee is excited to bring him to Indiana." The annual Newsroom Seminar and Better News paper Contest Awards Luncheon will return to the Indianapolis Marriott North. Register by Nov. 15 for reduced rates.
