Dr. Upinder Singh is chief medical officer of Kindred Healthcare Las Vegas Integrated Care System, which operates specialty hospitals, transitional care rehabilitation centers, home health centers and hospice care facilities. He previously worked as medical director of Health Plan of Nevada and a professor of geriatrics at Touro University. Ricardo Ramirez is senior vice president and managing director, Jan Baird is vice president of sales, Charlie Goh is vice president of finance and Sherri Ohanian is vice president of human resources at the Downtown Grand. Ramirez has 23 years of experience in hospitality and most recently worked as general manager of the Hacienda Beach Club and Residences in Cabo San Lucas. Baird has 12 years of hospitality marketing experience and is the former director of sales and marketing for the Platinum Hotel and Spa. Goh has more than 30 years of hospitality management experience, including 15 years with Marriott International, while Ohanian worked for 24 years for MGM Resorts International, most recently as vice president of human resources. Ron Herbes is campus director for the International Academy of Film and Television-Las Vegas, a film and acting school. Sunny Vasquez is a financial services representative at the Clark County Credit Union. He handles consumer loan counseling, new accounts, extended repair coverage and debt cancellation coverage. Carlos Banchik, president of Innova Technologies, was elected president of the International Monorail Association through fall 2016. Lucy Klinkhammer is vice president of development at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. She most recently worked as associate vice president of community relations at UNLV's Office of University Advancement, where she directed the Engelstad Scholarship program and helped establish the Lincy Institute. Imagine Communications, a marketing and communications company, joined Communications Workers of America. The Glenn Group chose Record Setter and Computers for a Cause as winners of its Dollar Office Space program, which offers a yearlong commercial lease to tenants for $1 a month. The Record Setter website allows users to create world records, while Computers for a Cause refurbishes unwanted and inoperative computers and electronics for people in need. Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park was listed as No. 180 on the 2013 Inc. 5000 List. Sky Zone started in Las Vegas in 2004 and has expanded to more than 18 states and Canada. IGT won the American Gaming Association's Gaming Voice Award for best 2012 annual report. IGT's interactive report received more than 26,000 mobile visits and 2,000 unique page views in three months. MGM Resorts International took home the most Gaming Voice awards, including best customer publication, best communications campaign and best digital direct mail campaing. MGM's Aria also won best employee publication for its Pulse newsletter. Best website went to Konami Gaming for its Fortune Chaser microsite, best print advertisement to Gaming Laboratories International and best direct mail to the Venetian for a baccarat tournament invitation. Sammy's Restaurant, Bar & Grill opened at the corner of Green Valley Parkway and Pebble Road in Henderson, creating more than 100 jobs. It is open 24 hours a day. Russell Burke joined Bailey Kennedy as an associate attorney focused on commercial litigation. He recently completed a federal clerkship for Judge James Mahan. Avery's Coffee, Xelement Music & Dance and Pisces Reef Fish Emporium opened at Village Square, 9400 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas. Courtney Devine is an associate attorney focused on estate planning at Rainey Devine Attorneys at Law. Inviewlabs, which programs software and consults on technology, acquired Reliant Programming and Web Services, a Las Vegas programming and development, web hosting, analysis and integration company. Matt McDonald joined the Korte Company's pre-construction group to help with bids and estimates. He has 13 years of construction experience. The Destination Services Association added four members: Scott Vandruff, of Mr. Tradeshow Communications; and Chris Allen, Lori Jones, and Shannon Dorado, all of La Quinta Inn and Suites Airport South. Edith Fernandez is associate vice president of community engagement and diversity at Nevada State College. She supports community outreach and coordinates internal efforts to retain and graduate students of all backgrounds. Alexis Mussi was promoted to vice president of operations at MountainView Hospital. She previously was MountainView's vice president of surgical services and the cath lab. Mussi is responsible for surgical services, the cath lab, food and nutrition, clinical coordinators, the Las Vegas Institute for Robotic Surgery, the hospital's neurosciences program and its cardiovascular and thoracic surgery associates team. Remee Suarez, a volunteer at MountainView Hospital, received the Nevada Hospital Association's 2013 Excellence in Volunteerism award. Suarez has volunteered at the hopsital since 2009, visiting patients and delivering meal coupons. Aliante casnino-hotel partnered with Joingo, a mobile marketing company, to launch a mobile loyalty app. Aliante guests can receive personalized notifications to their smart phones based on their location in the casino. The app also provides real-time Player's Club information, such as point balances, tier status and available credit. Caesars Entertainment was listed 11th among 500 companies for innovative use of business technology by InformationWeek. In addition, Caesars Entertainment's Total Rewards loyalty program won the Master of Enterprise Loyalty Award from Colloquy for the second consecutive year. Wicked Creative, a public relations agency, opened an office in San Diego. The Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce honored several companies with annual Business Excellence Awards. Those recognized were: Trailblazers – Communities in Schools of Nevada, GES, Help of Southern Nevada, NV Energy and Sunrise Children's Hospital and Sunrise Hospital; Pacesetters – Cannery Casino Resorts, Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, Encore Upholstery and Design, National Atomic Testing Museum and Three Square Food Bank; Cultivators – Business Minders, Colliers International Las Vegas, Commercial Roofers, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals and Seven Hills Orthodontics; Innovators – Guardian Elite Medical Services, Caltrol, HealthInsight, Office Squad and Ubiquita; and Groundbreakers – Las Vegas Sands Corp., R&D Events, Shade Tree, TruDerma and Whoa! Foods. CenturyLink will expand its fiber network in select neighborhood this fall to enable Internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second for residential and small business customers. Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects moved to 8882 Spanish Ridge Ave., Las Vegas. St. Rose Dominican Hospital's Siena Campus and Sunrise Hospital shared the 2013-14 Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation, which honors hospitals that consumers rank as best in quality, reputation and staff. St. Rose Dominican's Rose de Lima Campus was the only hospital in Southern Nevada to receive an A for hospital safety from the Leapfrog Group. Participation in the Leapfrog survey is voluntary, and all three St. Rose Dominican hospital campuses participated, along with more than 2,600 other hospitals nationwide. The San Martín Campus received a B and the Siena Campus received a C. Of all participating hospitals, 32 percent received A scores, 26 percent received B scores and 35 percent received C scores.
