THE GOOD WITCH’S GIFT Saturday at 8 p.m. on (HALL) Catherine Bell returns for the third time in the role of Cassie Nightingale, the witch with a heart of gold. This time, she and fiance Jake (Chris Potter) are intent on a Christmas Eve wedding — only six days away — but their best-laid plans go awry, and soon it becomes apparent that it’s going to take a lot of Cassie’s famous magic to help the big event come to pass. NOVA Tuesday at 8 p.m. on (PBS-9) Bluestonehenge, a prehistoric stone circle monument found about a mile from Stonehenge, is the site of a dig where researchers hope to find archaeological evidence that will shed new light on how prehistoric people managed to quarry, transport, sculpt and then erect these massive stones without the benefit of any monster trucks or other high-tech equipment in the new episode “Secrets of Stonehenge.” CRIMINAL MINDS Wednesday at 9 p.m. on (CBS-12) DR. SEUSS’ THE CAT IN THE HAT Friday at 10:25 p.m. on (TBS) Some purists may find this rendition of the beloved book absolutely nauseating, but Mike Myers’ frenetic performance as the Cat should appeal to children. You’re not a kid, however, which means you’re out of luck in the “good movie” department. Dakota Fanning and Spencer Breslin star as two children left alone at home with nothing to do. Enter the Cat and all his zany ideas for fun. Sean Hayes, Alec Baldwin and Kelly Preston co-star in this 2003 comedy. When a murdered 8-year-old is found on the Ap- palachian Trail, Rossi and Hotchner (Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson) and the rest of the BAU team search the wilderness for a man targeting children as his vic- tims in the new episode “Into the Woods.” Gill Gayle guest stars; Paget Brewster, Shemar Moore and Mat- thew Gray Gubler also star. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Monday at 8 p.m. on (CBS-12) Let’s go to the mall! When Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) finds a copy of the Canadian kids show featuring Robin Sparkles, Robin’s (Cobie Smulders) pop-star alter ego, the gang learns even more about her past as a performer than it expected. Alan Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls guest star in the new episode “Glitter.” JFK MOVIES Kevin Costner of “JFK” “JFK” (1991) The question had been out there for almost 30 years when this movie came out: Was the assassination of President John F. Kennedy the work of one man or a conspiracy? The Warren Commission ruled it was the former, but director Oliver Stone posits the latter here, focusing on New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner) and his efforts to prove that assassin Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone. The film garnered eight Oscar nominations – winning for cinematography and editing – and a whole lot of controversy. Martin Sheen “Kennedy” Cliff Robertson of “PT 109” 2 select TV “Kennedy” (NBC, 1983) Before “The West Wing” was even a gleam in Aaron Sorkin’s’ eye, Martin Sheen was playing a real-life commander in chief in this memorable television miniseries, which covered Kennedy’s eventful presidency from inauguration day to his death. The strong supporting cast includes John Shea as brother Robert, E.G. Marshall as father Joe and Vincent Gardenia as FBI boss J. Edgar Hoover. “The Missiles of October” (ABC, 1974) For 13 days in 1962, the world lived with the very real fear that nuclear holocaust was imminent, thanks to the discovery of Soviet missiles in Cuba. This made-for-TV docudrama, based on Robert F. Kennedy’s book “Thirteen Days: A Memoir of the Cuban Missile Crisis,” vividly re-creates that defining event in his brother’s presidency. William Devane plays the president, with Howard Da Silva (“1776”) as Nikita Khrushchev and future JFK portrayer Sheen as Bobby. Daily News BY BEVERLY FOSTER SEINBERG “PT 109” (1963) The first major motion picture about a president to be released while he was still in office, this drama chronicles Kennedy’s Navy service during World War II, including the aftermath of the sinking of the vessel he commanded. Kennedy himself handpicked Cliff Robertson to play him in the movie, which also stars Robert Culp, Robert Blake and James Gregory. “The Kennedys of Massachusetts” (ABC, 1990) Steven Weber (“Wings”) plays the adult JFK in this ambitious miniseries spanning almost six decades, from the wedding of Joe and Rose Kennedy to their son’s ascension to the highest office in the land. The large cast also includes a young Casey Affleck as the teenage Bobby. November 13 - 19, 2010
