Well, Mi- chael Harrar, for one. Fresh out of art school in the early 1980’s, Mi- chael wanted to make a difference in the world. For years, he felt a strong push toward missionary work. Michael was ready and willing. Now it was time for God to show him what to do next. And, of course, He did. As graduation was nearing, Michael picked up a magazine one day from Wycliffe Bible Translators. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he read the words, “Artist Wanted.” So Michael joined the Bible translation organization and took an assignment in Colombia, South America, where he began illustrating portions of Scripture and reading primers. Together, Michael and his wife Beverly have served with Wycliffe Bible Translators for 30 years, helping to bring God’s Word to people in a language they can understand. Much of that time has been spent in Papua New Guinea, where Michael was involved in a project to create Bible sto- rybooks and other literature in dozens of languages. Bev- erley taught English at Ukarumpa International School. Today, Michael continues to serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators, where he spends much of his time recruiting artists and training national artists, helping them discover how they can use their talents to help bring the Bible to their people and others in the language of their hearts. You are invited to join Michael at Wycliffe Associates banquet on Sat. November 20th at Father’s Vineyard, 724 Oakland Rd., in Spindale at 7PM for an inspirational look at how people of all backgrounds are working together to accelerate Bible translation around the world. Did Realize...ealize... F N th C li i WINSTON-SALEM’S GARNER WINSTON-SALEM’S T. W. GARNER FOOD COMPANY FOOD COMPANY It was born in North Carolina. It is now world famous. It is a fairly mild hot sauce and is seen all over the South East. (It registers 747 on the heat scale). This sauce was fi rst introduced in 1929 by Thad Garner, operator of the Dixie Pig barbecue stand in Winston-Salem. Customers asked for a spicier sauce and the Garners concocted one with cayenne peppers. When it came to naming their new sauce a marketing advisor suggested “Mexican Joe”. However, Thad’s father, Sam Garner opposed this idea and said that the name for the sauce should be American. Being that Texas is known for its’ spicy food, this was combined with Pete, the nickname of Thad’s brother Harold Garner. (Could you imagine Texas Harold?) As of 2004, Texas Pete- North Carolina born- is the third best selling hot sauce in the United States. The new Texas Pete’s Hotter Hot Sauce is three times the heat as the original. The company now offers a variety of hot sauces but still maintains the familiar 6 ounce bottle. A depression product that grows in demand! MARCY PLATINUM HOME GYM, offers total body workout.
