Send your business-philanthropy information to news@vegasinc.com Two Planet Beach Contempo Spas – one at West Tropicana Avenue and the 215 Beltway, the other at Valle Verde Drive and the 215 Beltway – will collect funds for Safe Nest through the end of October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Safe Nest aims to curb domestic violence. Planet Beach will donate 20 percent of the proceeds from customers who buy a Safe Nest Planet Beach Contempo Spas package, which includes a one-day spa pass. The community integration team at MassMedia Corporate Communications, a public relations, advertising and marketing firm, contributed more than 120 hours of community service last year and more than $10,000 to local charities so far this year, including to the Links for Life Foundation of Nevada, Nathan Adelson Hospice and Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada. Almost a dozen staff members organize and participate in volunteer and fundraising efforts. Recent events include a Habitat for Humanity home build, a pet supply drive for Heaven Can Wait Animal Society and reading to children at Edna Hinman Elementary School. Staffers plan to contribute another 100 hours by the end of the year. The Range 702 indoor shooting center will host a shooting competition to "Shoot Out Cancer" with proceeds benefiting the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada, which supports families of children with cancer. The event runs 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 11 and costs $120. Winder Farms, a home delivery grocery company, will "Go Pink" to raise money for breast cancer screening, treatment and research. Through Oct. 31, Winder Farms will donate a portion of its strawberry milk sales to the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Jesse's Pizza, in Henderson, designated the third Friday of every month "Pizza for a Cause Friday." The restaurant will donate 15 percent of its proceeds to a local nonprofit. The first recipient was Helping Hands of Vegas Valley. The Hero School, which helps homeless people achieve their goals, received $11,000 from E Fact Energy, an energy supplement manufactured by Enervations Inc. The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Zappos partnered with Boys Town Nevada to provide new shoes to more than 100 children. Company representatives sized the children for new athletic shoes, helped them select a pair and outfitted them with socks. Afterward, UFC athletes led the children in exercises and discussed the importance of staying active. Zappos and Clarks Shoes donated new shoes to more than 40 teachers at Hollingsworth Elementary School. Each teacher also received a bin of school supplies for their classrooms. The Shutter Store donated crafting supplies and free crafting lessons to teens affiliated with the Gay and Lesbian Community Center. Windsong Trust donated $150,000 to Spread the Word Nevada to buy books for 4,500 local at-risk children. The 5th annual College of Southern Nevada Foundation Golf Classic at the Revere Golf Club in Henderson raised $80,000 for foundation programs and scholarships. A team from Commercial Roofers won. Players included Gary Jaramillo, Eric Fitzsimmons, Chuck Jaramillo and Don Barris. The Trew Financial Benefits team, composed of players Adam Craig, Brennan Dew, Toby Meacham and Todd Shanholtzer, took second place. The Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas awarded scholarships to four Clark County high school students: Aily Rodriguez, Andrea Rocca-Capanom and Daniela Sanchez of Valley High School; and Qin Zhou of Durango High School. Founded in 2001, ECF provides educational support to students seeking careers in the hospitality or culinary industries. Martin Lawrence Galleries inside the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace donated $7,035 to the UMC Trauma and Burn Care Center. Money was raised through ticket sales and a raffle during the second annual Art of the Party gala at the gallery. The State Bar of Nevada's Lawyer Referral and Information Service distributed $335,100 in grants state nonprofit groups that provide legal services and education to the community. Ubiquita, a voice and IT services provider, sponsored the civil, environmental engineering and construction category at the 12th annual Fred and Harriet Cox Senior Design Competition at UNLV. Donna Cutler, manager of Las Vegas Fruits & Nuts at McCarran Marketplace, represented Las Vegas and Nevada at the Tourism Cares Coney Island volunteer cleanup project in New York. Findlay Toyota donated $10,000 to After-School All-Stars Las Vegas, which provides after-school activities for Clark County students. The car dealership has donated almost $70,000 to the organization since 2005. Easter Seals Nevada, which serves more than 8,000 Nevadans with disabilities annually, received a $10,000 grant from the Avril Lavigne Foundation to fund recreation and music programs for children. Easter Seals teamed with the School of Rock to design the year-long program. Prudential Americana Group Realtors donated 1,000 cases of water to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. Prudential Americana organized the water drive with Move For Hunger, a national nonprofit that helps families who are moving donate items to food banks. Red Carpet Movers picked up and delivered the water. Two Communities In Schools of Nevada locations served as host sites for the Summer Food Service Program, which provides free meals and snacks to students. CISN served meals at the Archie Grant Center for Academic Excellence and the Marble Manor Community Center. The Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood hosted a school supply drive and collected donations in its fountain for Communities In Schools of Nevada. The mall also will donate change collected in its fountain during September to Nevada PEP, a statewide nonprofit for families of children with disabilities. In addition, the Sands Foundation pledged to donate $250,000 to Communities In Schools of Nevada over the next two years. CISN supports almost 25,000 students in more than 40 schools, providing them with medical and dental care, counseling services, food, clothing, tutoring, career assistance and academic development help. Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada, in partnership with Centennial Toyota, raised $200,000 for Nevada children battling cancer. Centennial Toyota sponsored the group's 23rd annual 5K & 1-mile "Race for our Kids" at Exploration Park in Mountain's Edge. Park Place Infiniti sponsored a month-long bottled water drive for the Shade Tree. The dealership collected 364 cases of water, one for each Shade Tree resident. In addition, Park Place Infiniti employees delivered more than two dozen backpacks filled with school supplies to fourth- and fifthgrade students at Elaine Wynn Elementary. Right Now Air, an HVAC services company, donated more than $7,000 to the Little Miss Hannah Foundation, founded in memory of Hannah Ostrea, who lost her battle with Neuronopathic Gaucher's Disease, a rare genetic metabolic disorder. Opportunity Village opened its first campus in North Las Vegas. It includes an employment resource center and hosts the agency's Pride and Enable programs. King Putt, a mini-golf and laser tag center, donated one day of admission fees to the Wildlife Firefighter Foundation to support its work fighting the Carpenter 1 fire on Mt.
