It just seems right to go with a glass of milk or hot chocolate. Gray's Creek Baptist Church offers some good cookie recipes in their "Homemade With Love" cookbook. BROWNIES Glorified Brownies Restoring your quality of life right here at home. Dennis Hampton has battled shoulder pain since age 55. Almost 73 now, Dennis is finally pain free after having a complete shoulder replacement performed by Dr. Charles Bond. "My cartilage was completely gone in both my shoulders, meaning it was bone on bone," Dennis said. "I sleep on my right side, and it had gotten so bad that I'd wake up in pain." During the day he had pain as well, unable to raise his arms above his head. Dennis had his right shoulder replaced last June, and since that time he hasn't had any pain or problems. "It feels as good as it did when I was 15 years old." Dennis had considered going out of the county for surgery, but after talking to another patient who'd had the procedure done by Dr. Bond, decided to have surgery right here at home. "If anybody's got to have any surgery done to their shoulder, there's no point in having to go anywhere else," Dennis said. Rutherford Orthopaedics offers a full range of care, from foot and ankle care and joint replacement surgery to sports medicine and rehabilitation. MyRutherfordRegional.com/Orthopaedics Cancer Program Family Care and Pediatrics General Surgery Home Care Imaging Into the kitchen I go and the first thing I do is turn on the oven and preheat it to 350º. What more popular treat could I start with other than a brownie recipe. GERALDINE NIX shares her recipe for Glorified Brownies. 1/2 pound butter, 2 cups sugar, 6 tablespoons cocoa, 2 cups nuts, 4 eggs (beaten slightly), 1 1/2 cups plain flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons vanilla. Melt butter and add cocoa, sugar and beaten eggs. Mix well. Add salt, vanilla and flour. Stir until all ingredients are mixed. Add nuts, spread on well greased pan. The thinner the brownies, the better. Bake at 350º for 16 to 20 minutes. You can't get enough. COOKIES Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies One of my families favorites is oatmeal cookies. Here is a combination of two of our most popular items, oatmeal and chocolate. Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies compliments of MYRA DOWNEY. 2 cups sugar, 3 tablespoons cocoa, 1 stick butter, 1/2 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 3/4 cup peanut butter, 3 cups quick oats oatmeal. Mix sugar , cocoa, butter, milk and vanilla and bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add peanut butter and oatmeal. Mix well and spoon onto waxed paper and allow to set. Makes 2 dozen. So go ahead better make a double recipe! Orthopaedics COOKIES Peanut Butter Cookies Women's Services/Birth Place Wound Care Urology TABATHA JENKINS shares her recipe for Peanut Butter Cookies. 1 cup sugar, 1 cup creamy peanut butter, 1 egg, beaten, 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix together all the ingredients. Spoon out a little and roll into a ball. Place in pan and push down with a fork. Continue until mix is all gone. Bake 10 minutes at 350º. How easy and tasty is this? This weeks recipes are so simple, you have got to "get in the kitchen and show the love!" Some of the best cooks in the world are right here in Rutherford County and our nearby neighbors! Their time tested recipes are the reason we all love a good home cooked meal. We proudly share these good recipes with you! It is all part of our being "Small Town Friendly!"
